Comments and questions regarding the adaptation of the document content to the IEV:
Since this is the first time that data have been captured in this way for inclusion in the IEV, the following particular issues need to be addressed.
a. For French terms and synonyms, the gender needs to be validated.
b. Confirmation of the section headings (in the field Domain2). The translation of Domain2 (the section heading) will be added in French once the English section heading has been agreed to.
c. Where should primary sources that are part of the original entry appear: see for example the entry for "harm". Shall we leave them in square brackets in the definition field as currently presented?
d. A decision is needed as to whether the presentation of Notes and Sources should be updated for conformity with the new rules.
e. Do we need to define "EMC publication"? For now I have added a link to EMC: e.g. "<a href=IEV161-01-07>EMC</a> publications"
f. A number of entries cite ISO/IEC Guide 51 as the source. According to the current rules, the year of publication should be added to the source citation. Should this modification be carried out?
It is proposed to follow the "Normal database procedure" since these terms and definitions have already been approved by the IEC community.
|
| Justification and explanation: | See the rationale provided in "Rationale – IEC 60050-903 Risk assessment".
Editorial rules applied in the capture of the data:
- The gender has been added to all French terms where it was not already present.
- "LV" has been replaced by "low voltage (LV)" in accordance with IEC Guide 116:2010, 3.1.
- Synonyms have transferred to the corresponding fields; e.g. see IEC Guide 117:2010, 3.9.
- Document references have been altered so that they are in context: for example, "This IEC Guide" has been replaced by "IEC Guide 116".
- References to other terms within the same document have been replaced by links to the IEV entry concerned.
- Examples in notes (e.g. IEC Guide 116:2010, 3.1) have been left as in the original document.
- Since these terms and definitions were presented using the former editorial rules, in this proposal these former rules have been retained at present for clarity as detailed below.
• The old data category "NOTE" has been retained and has not been replaced by "Note 1 to entry". The data category "Note 1 to entry:" has been used only in the following three instances where a “new” note to entry has been created: IEC Guide 109, 3.10 = explanation regarding derivation of abbreviation has been transferred to a note to entry; IEC Guide 110, 2.3 and 116, 3.6 = the second sentence in the definition has been transferred to a note to entry.
• The old presentation of the source ("[…]" in place of "[SOURCE: ....]) has been retained.
Particular comments concerning IEC Guide 116:
a. IEC Guide 116:2010, 3.12: The text "(see also Figure 1)" has been replaced by Figure 1.
b. IEC Guide 116:2010, 3.1: "utilisation" has been replaced by "utilization".
c. IEC Guide 116:2010, 3.6 – The definition comprises two sentences. The explanation concerning the exposure has been transferred to Note 1 to entry.
d. A number of entries cite ISO/IEC Guide 51 as the source. According to the current rules, the year of publication should be added to the source citation. Should this modification be carried out?
