1 – process by which a radio transmitter produces radio-frequency energy for the purpose of radiocommunication
2 – radio waves or signal produced by a radio transmitter
NOTE 1 – In radiocommunication, the term “emission” should not be used in the more general sense of radio-frequency emission, i.e. the phenomenon by which electromagnetic energy emanates from a source in the form of radio waves. For example, that part of the energy from the local oscillator of a radio receiver transferred to external space is a radio-frequency radiation and not an emission.
NOTE 2 – In radiocommunication, the French term “émission” applies only to intentional radiation.
