Definition: | the ratio, generally expressed in decibels, of the power of the wanted signal to the total power of interfering signals and radio-frequency noise, evaluated in specified conditions at a specified point of a transmission channel

– the nature and characteristics of the wanted signal,
– the nature and characteristics of the interfering signals and the radio-frequency noise,
– the receiver and antenna characteristics such as the bandwidth.
