Definition: number of interruptions of supply experienced by the individual customers affected at least once during a time interval, divided by the duration of that time interval

NOTE 1 – This quantity is computed as follows: if NNS is the number of customers affected and the supply of customer j is interrupted nj times during a time interval of duration T, then

f CI = j n j N NS T MathType@MTEF@5@5@+=feaagCart1ev2aqatCvAUfeBSjuyZL2yd9gzLbvyNv2CaerbuLwBLnhiov2DGi1BTfMBaeXatLxBI9gBaerbbjxAHXgarqqtubsr4rNCHbGeaGqipG0dh9qqWrVepG0dbbL8F4rqqrVepeea0xe9LqFf0xc9q8qqaqFn0lXdHiVcFbIOFHK8Feea0dXdar=Jb9hs0dXdHuk9fr=xfr=xfrpeWZqaaeqabiGaciGacaqadmaadaqaaqaaaOqaaiaadAgadaWgaaWcbaGaae4qaiaabMeaaeqaaOGaeyypa0ZaaSaaaeaacqGHris5daWgaaWcbaGaamOAaaqabaGccaWGUbWaaSbaaSqaaiaadQgaaeqaaaGcbaGaamOtamaaBaaaleaacaqGobGaae4uaaqabaGccaWGubaaaaaa@4180@

When determining NNS, each customer affected must be counted only once, regardless of the number of interruptions experienced during that time interval.

This quantity can be used to describe past performance or to estimate expected future performance.

NOTE 2 – Usually, only sustained interruptions are considered.

NOTE 3 – The term “customer” represents the ultimate customer and not some intermediate distribution system or company.
