Definition: | a structure or equipment providing flexibility of semi-permanent interconnection of channels, circuits or equipment by terminating them and providing means for connecting them together in any required manner
NOTE 1 – A distribution frame permits any interconnection of subscribers' lines and line terminals, multiplex, switching, signalling and other equipment. The interconnections may be changed as required from time to time.
NOTE 2 – Examples of the technology used for the interconnections are wires, U-links and plugs and sockets, all of which are set up and rearranged manually, and electromagnetic or electronic switches which can be operated locally or remotely.
